Paint+Sander=Subtraction

Mon Oct 19, 2009, 4:12 PM
My birthday is tomorrow but had a great birthday party thrown for me last Saturday. One of my good friends bought me a starter, professional silkscreen kit. I can't wait to start experimenting with that!

Anywho, in the mean time I think it'll be awesome to practice some subtraction techniques, where I paint an image with difeerent layers of different layers and sand away the layers to give it that abstract void-like patina. Murakami incorporates that technique in a lot of his painting and have always been awed by the complexity of it. All it takes is to invest in some more paint and get some modeling paste to help make this possible.

What's up everybody and welcome to my life. My life consists of my hubby, food, work, and partying. I like anything random, chaotic, and interesting. Make me laugh or smile, I'll most likely like you. In fact for the most part I'll get along with everybody. I can be a sweet and sensitive lad or a sarcastic son-of-a-bitch. I love people and people love me, for a good reason I'm sure. Hey I'm a little confident, but what's wrong with that? Anyway, i live in North Tacoma with my beautiful hubby. Yes, I'm married, unheard of coming from Julian. I'm at a point in life where I can be happy with a companion and not get tired of them and move on to the next. I must have terminally flushed that out of my system after years of debauchery and hardcore partying :). I guess you could say I'm finally growing up a little. But who doesn't right? It is a good thing. Friends drift apart, or become closer than ever before. Don't take life for granted, or anything else for that matter. You will be a much happier person. No worries, no stress, and no drama. We all have enough of that in these times. Also, I just opened up an online store. Check it out sometime at [link] Yes please include the asterick at the end ;). I'm going back to school for business right now and eventually getting my B.A. in fine art. My future is limitless! I always had a deep interest in art, but never realized that I'd be feeding that interest with painting. I went to school for Game Design and Fashion Design, and didn't do me justice. My interest in Fine Art grew when I learned more about Pop Art. Artists like Andy Warhol and Takashi Murakami sparked a grreat deal of interest in the category of Pop Art. So lately (on my free time and when I'm financially able) I have been practicing painting with acrylics, gold leafing, and soon silk screen printing. Art does have a very high price, but it looks like this will be my true calling. More deviations will be submitted in the future. Well anyway I'm rambling again, so drop a hi or how ya doin.

In order to keep a true perspective of one's importance, everyone should have a dog that worships him and a cat that ignores him.
